Winter weddings in New York City are always a gamble–and this year was a real doozy!

Battling the weather is never a good idea, so when John and Valeriya woke on their wedding day, they decided to embrace the elements–which included the worst blizzard to hit NYC in decades.

Starting her day out at Le Parker Meridien, Val prepared with her family in a room overlooking snow-blanketed Central Park. Since the weather delayed car service, we took advantage of the extra time for some lovely portraits silhouetting the bride and groom against the flurries of snow in the Manhattan sky. John’s face, upon first seeing his bride Val, was well worth the wait.

With chunky flakes falling all around, the bride and groom braved the elements in snow-boots and carrying umbrellas, stopping off in Central Park and Times Square before heading downtown to the ceremony and reception venue at TriBeCa Rooftop. The snow was a perfect blend of light flakes, making for gorgeous wedding photos amidst a sea of winter wanderers.

“My advice to people who want to use TriBeCa Rooftop is to get different colored lights to make the wall colorful, and not just white. I loved the place and the food is just amazing!”
–Valeriya Ferro

When the weather is frightful, planning for the ceremony and reception at the same location is a brilliant idea–no dangerous transport from one location to another. And with a broad, open space, TriBeCa Rooftop is a perfect location for an all-in-one venue. Guests poured into TriBeCa Rooftop, happy to exit the cold, and cheered John and Val as they tied the knot in a sweet, concise ceremony as the sun set outside.

While friends and family congratulated the newlyweds, the staff whisked away the ceremony decor behind velvet curtains, quickly transforming the space into an intimate environment with warm lights, and a wide dance floor.

After many hours of dancing, toasting, and revelry, the bride and groom led their guests to the SoHo Grand, proudly closing the venue late into the morning!
